The journey began as a college student with a deep passion for learning and a dream to find a meaningful place in the world of higher education. With the guidance and motivation of supportive seniors, the decision was made to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Library and Information Science at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, in 2018.
Zeeshan Ali belongs to Badah Town, the largest area in the Larkana District. It was from this town that ambition and curiosity took root. During university life, a turning point arrived when an interest in Computers and Information Technology developed. The idea of merging these two fields libraries and technology became a personal goal. Continuous effort was made to master various Library Automation Software such as KOHA, SLiMS, Calibre, and DSpace. These tools opened a new vision of how libraries could be modernized through technology.
After graduating in 2022, a strong command over these systems helped secure an internship at Habib University, Karachi. This experience became an essential chapter of growth. Working in a professional environment enhanced both technical and communication skills. The tasks included managing library systems, supporting digitization projects, and learning the workflow of modern academic libraries.
After completing the internship, an opportunity came to join UIT University, Karachi, in 2022. There, Zeeshan gained hands-on experience in library automation and digital resource management. The following year, in 2023, another significant step was taken by joining SZABIST University, Karachi, as an Assistant Librarian.
At SZABIST, Zeeshan played a key role in leading the KOHA Implementation Project and managing the Research Library. This position provided deeper insight into research support services and digital library management. It was also the beginning of a new journey training library professionals across Pakistan in KOHA ILS and promoting library automation in academic institutions.
With growing expertise and recognition in the field, Zeeshan continued contributing to the development of library systems. Later, selection through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) led to joining the Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) as a Librarian. This role strengthened the mission of advancing digital transformation in libraries and promoting information access for all.
Over time, more than 100 library professionals from various provinces of Pakistan have been trained under Zeeshan’s guidance. The establishment of an academy for library professionals became another proud milestone, dedicated to spreading knowledge and encouraging the use of automation in library management. Through workshops, training sessions, and mentorship, the academy continues to inspire others to bring innovation into the world of libraries.
Zeeshan Ali’s story is one of determination, learning, and continuous growth. The journey from a student with dreams to a professional library automation trainer reflects the power of education, hard work, and passion for technology. Each step was built on commitment and the belief that libraries are not just about books they are gateways to knowledge and innovation.
Education remains the strongest key to success. Every field holds its own importance and opportunities; what matters most is dedication and consistency. Believe in your abilities, keep learning new skills, and never give up on your dreams. With patience, effort, and self-belief, any vision can be turned into reality.
