Meet Maryam Akbar Writing Her Way to Strength

The story of Maryam Akbar begins in the small town of Khanpur, District Rahim Yar Khan. From a young age, she was drawn to the beauty of words. At just 14 years old, during her 9th grade in 2019, she began writing—without realizing that this simple hobby would one day become her voice to the world.

In 2020, Maryam started her content creation journey by sharing her poetry on Instagram. For her, writing was not just about arranging words it was her way of expressing the emotions she couldn’t say aloud. Each poem she wrote carried a piece of her heart, a reflection of her feelings, and the lessons life had taught her.

Growing up in a small town, Maryam learned early that dreams often face limitations set by society. But she also learned something more powerful courage can take those dreams anywhere. She refused to let her surroundings or people’s opinions define what she could or could not do.

The turning point in Maryam’s journey came when life taught her some tough lessons. She called herself a “reality liker,” someone who sees and accepts life as it truly is. Family struggles and friends’ betrayals opened her eyes to the fact that not everyone stays with you, even when you give them your best. Instead of breaking her, these experiences shaped her. Her ability to observe and understand people deeply became her greatest strength. Those painful moments gave her poetry new depth and her personality new confidence.

When Maryam began posting her work online, she had no audience no one to like, share, or comment. But she continued. Slowly, people started noticing her words. They appreciated her honesty, her emotions, and her courage to write what many feel but cannot say. Each message of appreciation reminded her that her voice mattered. With time, consistency, and patience, she built a small but loving community around her poetry.

However, the journey was not always bright. Maryam faced one of her darkest moments during college. Her Urdu professor once told her that she wasn’t a good poet—without ever reading a single word of her writing. He even wrote in her diary, “If the heart is useless, the poetry is useless too.” Those words cut deep. For someone whose heart was her biggest source of inspiration, this felt like the end.

Heartbroken, she stopped posting her poetry. Around the same time, she was also preparing to become a doctor. She gave two attempts at medical exams but couldn’t achieve the required marks. It felt like all her dreams were falling apart. Two years passed in confusion and silence.

But slowly, Maryam found the courage to rebuild herself. She realized that no one can define who she is except her. She accepted that maybe Allah had different plans for her. She joined university to pursue a BS in Radiology, and with a new sense of strength, she returned to Instagram. This time, she didn’t post to please anyone she posted because it was her passion.

To her surprise, people welcomed her back with warmth. They valued her poetry and connected with her words more than ever before. That moment made her realize how powerful her voice truly was. What once broke her had now become her reason to rise.

Today, Maryam continues to write and inspire others through her poetry and content. Her message to the youth is simple yet powerful:
“Discover your potential and hold on to it. Use it to open the eyes of those who are blindfolded by society. Your gift is unique something only you can bring to this world. Believe in yourself, stand tall, and InshaAllah, you will shine.”

Maryam Akbar’s story is not just about poetry it’s about resilience, faith, and the courage to keep going when the world tries to silence you. She turned her pain into art, her doubts into determination, and her dreams into reality. Through her journey, she reminds everyone that even from the smallest towns, the brightest stars can rise.
