Meet Osama Akhtar a Storyteller & Founder of Buland

Once upon a time in Pakistan, where the culture of storytelling was slowly fading, one young man dared to dream differently. His name is Osama Akhter a passionate storyteller, community builder, and visionary.

From an early age, Osama felt a deep connection with people’s experiences, emotions, and voices. This passion led him to study Psychology at COMSATS, giving him a unique understanding of human nature and the stories hidden within every heart. But his journey didn’t stop there. His love for communication pushed him towards Mass Communication, where he discovered the true power of amplifying voices and building human connections on a larger scale.

Osama realized that stories are not just words they are bridges that connect people, heal communities, and inspire change. With this vision, he founded Buland Community a platform dedicated to reviving the lost tradition of storytelling in Pakistan.

What started as a simple idea soon grew into a movement. Through open mic nights, creative workshops, soulful art circles, adventurous hikes, and community gatherings, Buland created safe spaces where people could share their stories, express themselves, and feel heard.

His efforts have touched lives across Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, where countless individuals have found courage, inspiration, and belonging. Osama believes that every person has a story worth telling, and when those stories are shared, they have the power to bring people closer. His vision and passion also took him to bigger stages, where he spoke as a TEDx CUI Speaker, inspiring audiences with the timeless reminder that storytelling is not just an art it is a way of life.

But Buland is more than just events. Buland is your goto digital and physical platform for powerful stories. It is a space that highlights the social issues facing Pakistan today, while also showcasing the heroes in our communities, their remarkable efforts, and the challenges they overcome.

Through its wide range of storytelling events like Khat Kahani, Dost Kahani, Karachi Kahani, Lahore Kahani, Alif Kahani, Azaad Kahani, Buland Kahani, Storytravelling, and Buland Short Films, Buland continues to amplify voices that matter. Alongside these, it also organizes healing and reflective spaces such as Grief Space, Crisis Space, and many more, ensuring that storytelling becomes a tool for both connection and recovery.

Today, Osama Akhter continues his mission to empower voices, celebrate creativity, and rebuild the culture of storytelling in Pakistan. His journey is a reminder that sometimes, one story is enough to spark a thousand more.

“Stories are the threads that weave us together. When we share them, we create a fabric of connection, empathy, and hope.” – Osama Akhter
